The Design and Consultation Process
The design and consultation process generally involves five steps.
1. Site analysis.
Site analysis involves an on – site discussion with client.
Discussion of the Customer Brief Questionnaire sent out with this information will occur at this time.
The site meeting is about us gaining an insight into your needs and wants, likes and dislikes and what you want to achieve in your garden.
Following this consultation cycas will prepare a written quotation, and a client authorisation to be signed and returned to the cycas office.
2. Preparation of concept plan.
Upon receipt of the signed authorisation, cycas will prepare a concept drawing which will include planting themes and “Hard” landscape surface treatments based on the Customer Brief Questionnaire .
The time involved in the preparation of a concept plan is going to depend on the level of documentation and plans the customer can provide, i.e., site and survey plans showing the footprint of the dwelling and the existing levels. If the client is unable to provide documentation an extra 2 - 3 hours needs to be allowed for a site measure and survey.
3. Consultation at the cycas office.
This consultation will discuss the draft (concept) plan and refine as necessary. Additional requirements in the landscape will be addressed at this time, i.e., irrigation options, garden lighting possibilities, additional details on specific features within the landscape, etc.
4. Preparation of final landscape plans and construction specifications.
The finalized landscape plans will be based upon the information, feedback and discussions that have arisen from the consultation at the cycas office. These plans include:
• Planting Plan and Planting Schedule: Details of specific planting, plant numbers and sizes as well as installation requirements.
• Hard Landscape Plan: Details of paving, retaining systems and other hard landscape structures.
• Lighting Plan.
• Construction details and written specification.
5. Presentation of final landscape plan.
This meeting will be conducted at the cycas office and will complete the design service provided by cycas. Three copies of the final plans will be provided. Additional plans can be provided for a small fee.
